FOR MORE THAN A CENTURY, the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai has stood at the forefront of the field. From humble beginnings, it has become a trailblazer, helping to shape the future of orthopedic medicine.











Incorporated in 1910, the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is dedicated to understanding health conditions spanning the field of orthopedics.

It is situated within the Mount Sinai Health System—New York City’s largest academic medical system—which is a national and international source of unrivaled education, translational research and discovery, and collaborative clinical leadership. Our expert doctors and surgeons address skeletal and muscular symptoms using advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies and medical treatments.

In the most recent edition of U.S. News & World Report, our orthopedic surgery program was ranked as a top-25 program nationwide. With new technologies available, a renewed focus on closing health disparities, and the translational research infrastructure of the Mount Sinai Health System, the Department is poised to make discoveries that reduce pain and suffering, and improve the health care of our patients.
