The Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at Mount Sinai is committed to improving the lives of older adults, those with serious illness, and their caregivers. As you will see in this report, much of our work begins at Mount Sinai and expands throughout our community and across the country.
In 2023, the Brookdale Department received esteemed recognition in the U.S. News & World Report® Best Hospitals 2023-2024 survey: The Mount Sinai Hospital is the No. 1 Best Geriatrics Hospital in the nation for the fourth consecutive year; Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West rank together at No. 31; and Mount Sinai Beth Israel ranks at No. 47. Additionally, Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside join The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai Beth Israel as recipients of Advanced Certification in Palliative Care from The Joint Commission.
These achievements across multiple campuses reflect our increasing reach and our ability to bring the highest standard of care to new care settings. Our clinical achievements also influence and enhance our educational programs, research initiatives, and commitment to health equity.
I am pleased to share with you the Brookdale Department’s 2024 Specialty Report, which includes articles on our nationwide health care leaders’ fellowship program, our commitment to aging veterans, new clinical programs, and more. My hope is that you and your institution can learn from what we have learned and accomplished.
The Brookdale Department is grateful to continue providing the best possible geriatrics and palliative care for patients and families in New York and beyond. I thank you for your interest in our work and hope you are equally inspired by the team at Mount Sinai.
