Message From Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, Director of Mount Sinai Heart

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic challenged all of us as never before. Our physicians and scientists accomplished this while continuing to advance our core mission in cardiovascular research and compassionate patient care.

This year, The Mount Sinai Hospital was ranked among the top 6 in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery, according to U.S. News & World Report. And we were No. 5 in the Newsweek ranking of the best cardiology centers in the world.

I have had the honor of serving as Director of Mount Sinai Heart for 25 years. I am proud of our team's work in advancing the understanding of, and developing treatments for, cardiovascular disease, mentoring generations of physicians, and delivering the highest standard of care.

In this specialty report, I would like to share with you some of the research and clinical initiatives directly related to the vision of Mount Sinai Heart—creating healthier communities in our own region and around the world.
