Yunsoo Lee, MD, is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon for the Mount Sinai Health System and an Assistant Professor, Orthopedic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Lee’s practice encompasses a wide range of adult spinal disorders, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, with a special interest in minimally invasive techniques, traumatic and degenerative pathologies, and translational research. Dr. Lee believes in an interdisciplinary, patient-centered approach, utilizing both nonoperative and operative interventions to help patients improve their quality of life and achieve their goals.
Dr. Lee received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude. She attained her medical degree from the Yale School of Medicine and did her orthopedic residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She then finalized her training with a two-year research and clinical spine surgery fellowship at Rothman Orthopaedics at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, working with world-renowned leaders in spine surgery.
Research has always been an important part of Dr. Lee’s interest in spine surgery. She is the recipient of multiple research grants and awards. She has authored numerous abstracts, publications, and book chapters, presenting basic science and clinical research regularly at national and international meetings. Dr. Lee is a member of the North American Spine Society, the Cervical Spine Research Society, and the Lumbar Spine Research Society.

Martin Pico, MD
Martin Pico, MD, is a board certified interventional physiatrist with advanced fellowship training in pain management. He practices at Mount Sinai West and is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation and Human Performance at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. With a passion for improving patient’s quality of life, he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pain conditions affecting the spine and peripheral joints (knees, shoulders, and hips). Dr. Pico employs a multidisciplinary approach, integrating minimally invasive injections, physical therapy, acupuncture, and comprehensive pain management strategies tailored to each individual’s needs.
Dr. Pico earned his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude. He went on to receive his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, followed by a medicine internship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York University, where he served as chief resident, coordinated anatomy labs and ultrasound workshops, and received the Howard A. Rusk Resident of the Year Award in 2022. Simultaneously, he underwent training in acupuncture from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and is a licensed acupuncturist. He also completed an ACGME-accredited interventional pain fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta.
Committed to patient education and empowerment, Dr. Pico believes in fostering a collaborative relationship with his patients to ensure they understand their conditions and treatment options. He specializes in minimally invasive pain management procedures, with expertise in performing X-ray-guided epidural injections of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, sacroiliac joint injections, facet joint injections, and radiofrequency neurotomy. He also offers advanced treatments such as basivertebral nerve ablation, kyphoplasty, platelet-rich plasma injections, and spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation. His approach integrates minimally invasive procedures with physical rehabilitation to help patients achieve optimal function and regain control of their lives. As part of a multidisciplinary team, Dr. Pico works closely with spine surgeons who can address any surgical needs as they arise.
Dr. Pico is an active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the International Pain & Spine Intervention Society, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.

Chirag D. Shah, MD, JD
Chirag D. Shah, MD, JD
Chirag Shah, MD, JD, Assistant Professor, Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation and Human Performance at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is a board certified and fellowship-trained interventional physiatrist specializing in integrative pain, interventional spine, and sports medicine. Dr. Shah treats patients holistically with consideration for various therapeutic modalities, medication management, minimally invasive spinal and peripheral joint injections, and regenerative medicine with orthobiologics. He is experienced in utilizing tools such as fluoroscopy and ultrasound while performing injections and is involved in research relating to orthobiologics within the spine and peripheral joints. He aspires to continue making significant contributions to the field of pain management and interventional spine care, fostering patient education, and staying at the forefront of advancements in interventional techniques.
Dr. Shah completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois Chicago, where he was accepted into its prestigious straight medical program, graduating summa cum laude in only a year and a half. Since he was able to graduate early, he attended Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School to expand on his medical legal educational base. He also received his master’s degree in patent law. Dr. Shah is one of the youngest individuals to pass the bar in Illinois. He then attended medical school at the University of Illinois Chicago and completed his internship at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Illinois. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Rush University Medical Center in Illinois, where he served as chief resident. He then completed his fellowship in interventional spine and sports medicine within the Orthopedics Department at The Mount Sinai Hospital. After graduation, he was an Assistant Professor at New York University for five years, where he served as Director of Spine for the Sports Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Shah has mentored countless medical students, residents, and fellows during his time there.
Dr. Shah is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the International Pain & Spine Intervention Society, and the Association of Academic Physiatrists. He was named a Top Doctor of New York in 2020. Dr. Shah is actively involved in giving many lectures for various organizations and conferences including the NYU Langone Spine Conference and the New Metro: Sports Medicine Board Review Course. Patients under Dr. Shah’s care will benefit from his unwavering dedication to excellence and individualized care. His mission is not only to alleviate pain, but to enhance functional outcomes, thus empowering individuals to regain control of their lives.
