Shane Meehan, MD, plans to grow our research in dermatopathology by expanding into AI and machine learning.
The Dermatopathology Services Lab will open at our new location in the first quarter of 2026 at 533 West 57th Street, off 10th Avenue. It has been fueled by growth of more than 50 percent in our total dermatopathology patient volume since 2020. (Case volume in 2025 was more than 50,000, up from 32,650 in 2020.)
Shane Meehan, MD, Professor of Dermatology and Pathology, and Co-Director of the Dermatopathology Fellowship, is cultivating an expertise in digital dermatopathology and applications of artificial intelligence (AI) to create standards for whole slide image archiving, and develop a digital dermatopathology database for the purposes of future research.
